McDougall & McConaghy spent many years working together to develop high performance moth designs that could be cost effectively mass produced yet capable of winner world championships in a class that has been dominated by highly technical one off designs. When it was apparent the demise of the production moth project that both McDougall and McConaghy Boats had been instrumental in was inevitable McDougall and McConaghy got together to come up with the MACH2. It was an immediate success and the rest is history. The MACH2 dominates the moth world in a field of sailing where development never leases. A perfect environment for McDougall and McConaghy to excel.

  • The Mach 2 has won the Moth World Championships for the last 7 years
  • At around 30kg fully rigging the Mach 2 can take off in as little as 6 knots of breeze, and reach speeds of over 30 knots
  • It is easy to transport and assemble by one person
  • There are local moth associations around the world that can provide friendly advice and support to get you started

McConaghy Boats have now constructed over 500 Mach 2 foiling moths

  • Lightweight autoclaved carbon hull made from undirectional fibre
  • Hi modulus pressure moulded optimised hydro foils
  • Quality hardware from Harken and Ronstan
  • Pre-preg carbon fibre pressure moulded wings, spreader and gantry
